Day 2

Delhi | Local Sightseeing

Delhi is an ode to past, present and future that offers a perfect blend of culture and bureaucracy. After breakfast, you would set out on a city tour to discover the pulse of this city. The first order of business would be to pay homage to the Mahatama at his final resting place - the Raj Ghat. Then you would be driven past glorious monuments such as Jama Masjid and Red Fort - both personifying different times and rulers. Time permitting, you could partake in a unique shopping experience at the colourful Chandni Chowk market. Later in the afternoon, you would visit Qutub Minar; the architectural gemstone that was built in 1193 by Qutb al-Din Aibak and has since been proudly marking Delhi?s ever changing skyline. Then you would head to a wonderful place to enjoy silence - a rare experience in Delhi, to the Lotus Temple. The immaculate white marble structure, built in the shape of a lotus was created to bring faiths together. Thereafter, gear up to visit one of the most recognised symbols of Delhi (and perhaps even of India)- the India Gate. The war memorial stands tall on one of the most important roads, right opposite the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President?s official resident).

Day 3

Delhi - Agra (204 kms/approx. 5-hour drive)

After a gourmet breakfast, be ready to be enthralled by romance and mysticism as you set out towards Agra. The journey from one historical city to another would take approximately 5 hours. While Taj Mahal has stood the test of time, Agra is also home to a massive Mughal legacy reflected through its various monuments and mausoleums. En route, to experience this grandeur, you would visit Sikandra - the mausoleum built for the great Mughal Emperor Akhbar. Thereafter, you would visit perhaps the most beautiful building in the world and what Rudyard Kipling described as 'the embodiment of all things pure', the Taj Mahal. The white marble structure constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, is indeed one of the greatest architectural achievements. A visit to the Agra Fort would be next where you can see the royal chambers, beautiful gardens and halls constructed for public and private audiences. The fort, symbolic of the Mughal power, also inspires emotions of awe and grandeur. After soaking in the historic flavour of the city, head to Trident Agra where beautifully landscaped gardens and water fountains would welcome you. Spend a comfortable night at this charming hotel built in local red stone, reminiscent of the Mughal era. (Note: Taj Mahal is closed for visitors on Friday. In case you happen to reach Agra on Friday, your Taj Mahal visit would be scheduled for Saturday morning.)
